THE 4 ROLES OF
LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP
The Four Roles
of Leadership (Four Roles) is a programme that is targeted at
the leaders of organizations, groups and teams. It is aimed at
promoting trust, teamwork, accountability, and high
performance in the workplace. It is designed for leaders who
want to significantly improve their strategic thinking,
long-term vision, and positive influence on others. It teaches
concepts vital for organisational effectiveness.
It teaches four strategic roles, which a leader must
simultaneously execute if he is to successfully, execute a
project; build an organization; or lead a nation! The Four
Roles are Path finding; Alignment, Empowering and Modeling.
The thrust of these roles is as follows:
 |
Pathfinding
Great leadership begins with clarity of thought and purpose.
The pathfinding role helps you create a blueprint of action
and to ensure that your plans clearly meet identified implied
and explicit needs before you act. |
| |
|
 |
Aligning
If pathfinding identifies a path, aligning paves it.
Organisations are always “perfectly” aligned to get the
results that they get. Constant work on systems, processes and
structure in order to align them with the organisation’s
desired results is critical. |

 |
Empowering
The true art of empowering people is not mastery in delegating
responsibilities or in “abandoning” subordinates in the spirit
of providing independence in work dynamics. True empowerment
must yield high trust, productive communication between
individuals and teams. This results in synergistic and highly
productive work teams, where each individual feels material
and valued. |
| |
|
 |
Modeling
Modeling is borne from an awareness that leadership is borne
from character and not from position. Leaders must learn what
modeling involves; such that those they lead can readily trust
them. |
